ExplainJoy

Explain it visually, before the moment passes.

The whiteboard that is a presentation. Sketch a process, an architecture or a decision while you are still talking about it — no layout work, no formatting, no fighting with a slide master.

Viewing and presenting are always free. One coin unlocks editing for seven days.

What it is

For people who want to explain something, not design it.

ExplainJoy is a web application for visual thinking. A deck is a set of slides, and each slide is a whiteboard with a fixed frame — so what you draw is exactly what your audience will see. Not an endless canvas you get lost in, and not a diagramming suite you have to learn first.

How it works

From a thought to an explanation.

  1. 01

    Double-click and type

Double-click empty space and a note appears, ready for you to type into. No insert menu, no picking a tool first.

  2. 02

    Connect instead of aligning

Drag a connector out of a box into empty space and the next box is already there, waiting for a name. Connections stay attached when you move things.

  3. 03

    Let it tidy itself

Snapping, alignment guides and one-press clean up handle spacing and alignment. Your diagram looks deliberate without you nudging pixels.

  4. 04

Present it a piece at a time

Reveal elements one step at a time instead of building four near-identical slides. Connectors appear automatically with the later of the two things they join.

The product

Everything a good explanation needs.

Slides with a real frame

Every slide has a bounded presentation area. What you draw is what your audience sees — nothing drifts off the edge.

Connectors that stick

Straight, elbow or curved. Move a node and the connector follows, label and all.

Progressive reveal

Decide what appears when. One slide tells a story instead of showing everything at once.

Shapes, notes and a pen

Rectangle, circle, diamond, pill — plus service, database and person nodes, sticky notes and freehand drawing with colour and nib width.

Automatic tidying

Align, distribute, match sizes, clean up. The structure stays; only the mess goes.

Export and sharing

Export as PDF or share a link, with access enforced in the database rather than only in the interface.

Why ExplainJoy

Between a blank whiteboard and a slide builder.

An endless canvas can do anything and rarely produces something you can show. A presentation tool pushes you into layout before you have finished the thought. ExplainJoy sits deliberately in between.

Infinite whiteboard

Great for gathering ideas. But there is no frame, so there is nothing you can cleanly present afterwards.

Presentation software

Good for finished decks. Drawing a diagram there means align, group, nudge, repeat.

ExplainJoy

Whiteboard speed while you draw, presentation quality when you show it. One tool for “wait, let me draw what I mean”.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Do I need an account to view a deck?
Not for a shared deck. Viewing and presenting work without signing in and without a coin, as long as the owner has shared the link.
What exactly does a coin pay for?
Editing. The first time you change something, ExplainJoy asks whether to start a week. During that week you can edit as many decks as you like.
Does this replace a presentation program?
For drawn explanations — flows, architectures, proposals, decisions — yes. For designed decks on a corporate template, no, and that is deliberate.
Can I export?
Yes, as a PDF of the whole deck, so an explanation can travel to places where no browser is running.
Does my RetroJoy account work here?
ExplainJoy uses the same magic-link sign-in. Whether accounts and coins are shared between the products depends on which backend your account is set up against.
